How Shirt Circle works

Shirt Circle is a marketplace where collectors buy and sell match-worn football shirts directly with each other. Payments run through Stripe, every parcel ships with a prepaid tracked label, and clear rules decide when the seller is paid.

Buying on Shirt Circle

  1. 1

    Find a shirt

Browse listings from collectors across Europe. Every listing shows the seller's own authenticity claims and evidence. Authenticity claims and evidence are provided by the seller. Shirt Circle does not authenticate items.

  2. 2

    Pay securely

Pay by card through Stripe at checkout, with the full price breakdown shown first. Payments are processed and held by Stripe. Shirt Circle never holds your money. Your payment is released to the seller after delivery, once the protection window closes. Items over EUR 1,000 are held for 7 days instead of 48 hours.

  3. 3

    Track your parcel

The seller ships with a prepaid tracked label generated through Shirt Circle. You follow every step from your order page.

  4. 4

    Confirm receipt

Check the shirt against the listing and confirm receipt, or report a problem within the windows shown on your order page.

Selling on Shirt Circle

  1. 1

    Create your listing

Add photos, details, and your own authenticity claims and evidence. You confirm at publication that they are yours and accurate.

  2. 2

    Set up payouts

Connect a Stripe account so you can be paid. Stripe requires identity and account verification before payouts can be enabled; you can publish listings before setup is complete, but buyers can only purchase once it is ready.

  3. 3

    Sell and ship

When a buyer pays, your sale page shows the shipping address, a prepaid tracked label, and your exact shipping deadline. Print the label, pack the shirt to our guidelines, and drop the parcel off.

    Packing Guidelines

  4. 4

    The parcel arrives

The carrier's delivery confirmation starts the buyer's protection window. The buyer can confirm receipt right away or report a problem.

  5. 5

    Get paid

Payments are processed and held by Stripe. Shirt Circle never holds your money. Once the protection window closes, the payout is released and you can follow it in your Stripe Express dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Shipping

How does shipping work on Shirt Circle?

Every sale ships with a tracked label that Shirt Circle generates through its shipping partner Sendcloud. After the buyer pays, the seller creates the prepaid label from the sale page, packs the shirt, and hands the parcel to the carrier. Both sides follow the parcel from the order page, and the seller's payment stays with Stripe until delivery. Do not buy or arrange a separate shipping label: always use the prepaid label from the Shirt Circle sale page.

Who pays the shipping costs?

The buyer pays shipping, and insurance where it applies, at checkout on top of the item price. The exact shipping cost is shown on the listing and again before payment. The seller never pays for shipping: the label they create is already paid for.

How do I get my shipping label as a seller?

As soon as a buyer pays, the sale page in your dashboard shows "Create shipping label". One click generates a prepaid, tracked label with the right carrier for your route. Print it, pack the shirt securely, drop the parcel off at the carrier, and tap "I've dropped off the parcel" so your buyer knows it is on its way.

How should I pack the shirt?

Pack so the shirt cannot move and cannot get wet: fold it flat, put it in an inner bag or tissue, and fill any empty space in the box. Never tape anything directly to the shirt or the print, and never use newspaper or anything else that can transfer ink. Send a certificate or other paperwork in its own sealed sleeve, not against the shirt. From 250 EUR you also need pack-out photos or a video before you seal the parcel, because the parcel is insured and that evidence is what a claim is judged on. The Packing Guidelines on our policies page set out the full requirements per price band.

How long do I have to ship a shirt?

After the buyer pays, your sale page shows the exact shipping deadline. Create the prepaid label and ship before that date. We email you a reminder before the deadline. If no label has been created by then, the order is automatically refunded to the buyer and the sale is cancelled.

Where can I track the shipment?

The tracking number and a "Track parcel" link appear on the order page the moment the label is created. Buyers find it under Purchases, sellers under Sales, and the carrier can also email the buyer updates directly.

What happens if I don't ship in time?

If no label exists by the deadline shown on your sale page, the order is automatically refunded in full and the sale is cancelled. If you created a label but the parcel was never scanned by the carrier, the order is paused for a manual check by our team. If something comes up, message your buyer as early as possible.

What happens if a package is delayed or lost?

Every parcel is tracked, and the payment is not released while an eligible shipment problem is being reviewed. If a parcel stops moving for a longer period, our team reviews the order. If it appears lost, the buyer can report "I never received it" from the order page; if that claim is upheld while the payment is still held, the buyer is refunded in full.

Is my parcel insured?

Shipments with an item price of 250 EUR or more are automatically insured for their full value, up to 5,000 EUR, and are delivered against signature. The buyer pays the insurance fee at checkout and sees it in the price breakdown. For insured shipments, report loss or damage through the order page. Shirt Circle reviews the shipment and explains the next steps. Where the shipment is covered, Shirt Circle can submit the claim to the insurance provider.

Can I use my own shipping label or carrier?

No. Do not buy or arrange a separate shipping label. Every order must ship with the prepaid label from your Shirt Circle sale page: it powers the tracking, the insurance, and the release of your payment, because the carrier's delivery confirmation is what allows the payment to be released. A parcel shipped outside the platform is not insured through Shirt Circle and can delay or block your payout.

Selling: after an offer is accepted

What happens after I accept an offer?

Accepting an offer agrees the price. It is not a completed sale and no money has moved yet. The buyer still has to pay: they get a "Pay" button in the chat and on the listing, and the order only exists once that payment succeeds. Until it does, the shirt stays on sale and someone else can still buy it, unless you reserve it for the buyer from the accepted-offer bar. Once the buyer has paid you get a confirmation, the listing is marked sold, and the sale appears under Sales with your shipping instructions. Payments are processed and held by Stripe. Shirt Circle never holds your money.

What do I need to do once the buyer has paid?

Open the sale from your Sales page and create the prepaid shipping label there. Always use that label: it is already paid for by the buyer, it carries the insurance where it applies, and it is what links the parcel to the order. Do not buy your own label or arrange your own courier. Pack the shirt, hand the parcel to the carrier, and the tracking attaches to the order automatically, so both you and the buyer follow it from the order page. Ship within 5 business days. If no label is created by then, the order is automatically refunded to the buyer.

When and how do I get my payout?

Your payment is held by Stripe until the parcel is delivered and the buyer's protection window closes. Items over EUR 1,000 are held for 7 days instead of 48 hours. An open dispute pauses the release. The payout runs through Stripe, so your Stripe payout setup has to be fully verified before the money can reach you. You can publish listings and sell before that is finished, but an incomplete payout setup is the one thing that can hold up your money after a sale, which is why Shirt Circle keeps warning you about it until it is done. Finish it from the Payouts page in your dashboard, and follow the bank payout itself in your Stripe Express dashboard.

What do I do if something goes wrong with a sale?

Start in the conversation with the buyer: most problems are a delayed parcel or a question about the shirt. If the parcel is late or seems lost, check the tracking on the order page first, because carriers can be slow to scan. If the buyer reports a problem with the shirt, you are notified and asked for your response, and the payment simply stays held by Stripe while the claim is reviewed instead of moving to either side. If you cannot create a label, or the sale is stuck in a state you do not recognise, contact Shirt Circle from the order page rather than shipping outside the platform, because a parcel sent on your own label cannot be tracked, insured, or used as evidence.

Payments and payouts

When does the buyer pay?

Immediately at checkout. That is true for "Buy now" and for accepted offers: an accepted offer sets the price, but the sale is only complete once the buyer pays. Until then the listing can still be bought by someone else, unless the seller reserves it.

When do I get paid as a seller?

Your payment is held by Stripe while the parcel travels. For items under 1,000 EUR, Shirt Circle instructs Stripe to release the payout as soon as the buyer confirms receipt, or automatically 48 hours after delivery. For items of 1,000 EUR or more, the release follows 7 days after delivery. An open dispute pauses the release. After the release, you can follow the bank payout in your Stripe Express dashboard.

Why is my money held temporarily?

The hold protects both sides. The buyer knows their payment is not released while a problem can still be reported, and you know the buyer has genuinely paid before you ship. Stripe processes and holds every payment; Shirt Circle never holds your money.

What should the buyer do after receiving the order?

Check that the shirt matches the listing, then press "Confirm receipt" on the order page. For items under 1,000 EUR that releases the payment to the seller right away. If something is wrong, do not confirm: use "Report a problem" instead, within the windows shown on your order page.

What happens if the buyer never confirms receipt?

Nothing is lost for the seller. If the buyer takes no action, the release follows automatically: 48 hours after delivery for items under 1,000 EUR, 7 days after delivery for items of 1,000 EUR or more. Confirming is a way to release the payment sooner, not a requirement.

Why do I need to set up Stripe Connect?

Stripe handles every payment and payout on Shirt Circle. Stripe requires identity and account verification before payouts can be enabled. You can publish listings before setup is complete, but buyers can only purchase once your payout setup is ready.

How long until a payout is on my bank account?

Once the protection period ends, Shirt Circle instructs Stripe to release the seller payout. If a release attempt fails, our system retries it automatically. You can follow the bank payout in your Stripe Express dashboard, which opens from the Payouts page; bank processing times vary per bank and country.

What happens to the payment when there is a problem or dispute?

It stays held by Stripe, and an open dispute pauses any release until it is resolved. If a claim is upheld while the payment is still held, the buyer is refunded the full amount paid, including the buyer's premium, shipping, and any insurance. When a return is required, the refund follows once the tracked return is received and verified. If a problem is reported after the payment was already released, our team reviews the case and arranges the outcome; that is not an automatic refund.

Buying and protection

What does Shirt Circle check about authenticity?

Shirt Circle does not authenticate items. Every listing shows the seller's own authenticity claims and the evidence they provide, such as a certificate, photomatch images, or provenance documents. We display that information as the seller supplied it, so you can judge it yourself. If the item you receive does not match its claims, you can open a claim within 7 days of delivery.

Who is responsible for the authenticity information?

The seller. Before publishing, every seller confirms that all authenticity claims and evidence in the listing are their own and accurate. Shirt Circle displays this information but does not verify or endorse it. False or misleading claims are grounds for a buyer claim and for enforcement against the seller.

What should I do if a shirt doesn't match the listing?

Do not confirm receipt. Open "Report a problem" on your order page: within 48 hours of delivery for condition or description issues, within 7 days of delivery for authenticity claims. Your payment stays held by Stripe while the claim is reviewed. If the claim is upheld while the payment is held, you are refunded in full; when a return is required, the refund follows once the tracked return is received and verified.

Can I cancel or return a purchase?

For purchases from private sellers, Shirt Circle does not offer change-of-mind cancellations or returns. Different consumer rights may apply when the seller acts as a professional trader. A purchase can be undone when something is genuinely wrong: the item never arrives, it does not match the listing, or its authenticity claims are false. In those cases, open a claim from your order page within the windows shown there.
